Class Descriptions:
Gentle Yoga: this class is slower and more restorative/restful. The poses tend to be slower, yet gentle and stimulating. Blankets, straps and blocks are used to enhance comfort in the exercises. Beginners may feel more comfortable adapting to Yoga in such a class, and Intermediate/Advanced students will appreciate the relaxation and stress reducing postures and practices offered. The class is one hour long.
Moderate Yoga: this class is designed for both beginners and advanced students. There is more challenge in the poses with deeper stretching and effort. The class is one and one-quarter hour long. All classes end with a deep guided relaxation.

Sunday Yoga Hikes!!!

Join me Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. for a peaceful hike in the woods of Steep Rock preserve in Washington, CT. We will proceed to hidden meadows and sacred spots for gentle yoga stretching, yoga breathing and quiet contemplation in the beauty of nature. Learn and practice techniques that open a pathway to your inner being and self-realization. Emphasis is on physical comfort and mental tranquility. Bring a pillow and loose clothing. Chairs provided if you cannot sit on the floor. No experience required.

Yoga for Winter Sports

Join Doug for an exploration of movements and breathwork that, with practice, will condition the body and respiratory system for the exertion of outdoor activities such as Ice Skating, Skiing, Snowboarding, X-C Skiing and Sledding. Special attention will be given to tight hamstrings, knee and hip flexibility and leg strength. Learning to relax under stressful outdoor challenges will be covered in the breathing and mind exercises. Fun and easy to learn. All outdoorsy types are encouraged to attend!

Neck and Back Care Basics

Learn the techniques perfected by the ancient Yogis to cure and prevent back and neck pain. This workshop is for anyone experiencing stiffness and pain anywhere in the back or neck. The Yogis of ancient India discovered how to employ gentle repetitive movements and breath to alleviate these discomforts. You can do the same, but first you need to come and learn the techniques. If you have serious back issues, please consult your Doctor before attending.
Prana Dharana

This ancient technique first appeared in the Upanishads, the sacred writings of Ancient India. Prana means "Universal intelligent life-force energy", and Dharana means "concentration". By learning to direct the Prana with your own concentration, you can send healing to any physical body part, any emotional/mental issue. We will learn this technique together, first by becoming totally relaxed using Yoga breathing and stretching, and then by focusing the mind using several specific Yogic techniques.
